The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigerian nationals for the positions below at the Institute’s Headquarters in Ibadan.

Position:        Field Worker III

Contract:       2-years renewable contract                                            

Location: Ibadan

Closing Date: 24 July, 2026.

DUTIES: 

  • Execute nursery propagation activities such as substrate preparation, potting, corm splitting, extraction, watering and general handling of nursery plantlets.
  • Record basic data for propagation experiments and ensure proper labeling and traceability as guided.
  • Practice compliance with lab and screenhouse standard operation and safety procedures during routine operations.
  • Maintain cleanliness of nursery facilities, tools, and related work areas, and support movement of planting materials.
  • Perform other job-related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

QUALIFICATION: 

O’ Level with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience performing a similar role in a well-structured environment.

COMPETENCIES:

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Strong knowledge of nursery propagation techniques, plant handling, substrate preparation, potting, watering, and general nursery maintenance.
  • Experience in banana and other vegetative propagated crop production, with a basic understanding of tissue culture laboratory and screenhouse operations.
  • Skilled in accurate data recording, material labeling, and maintaining traceability of plant materials and experiments.
  • Detail-oriented team player with strong problem solving, communication, and organizational skills, capable of working independently while maintaining quality, productivity, and a safe work environment.
