The World Bank is implementing a Programmatic Advisory Services and Analytics (PASA) program (ID: P518069) to support China in developing scalable solutions for environmental and ecosystem management. Pillar 1 of this PASA, “Environmental Quality,” aims to help China advance integrated and financeable approaches to air pollution control and climate action at the provincial level. This pillar focuses on generating inbound knowledge on clean air and climate synergies. The intern will support the team working on this Pillar, which involves provincial diagnostics, cost-effectiveness analysis of mitigation options, and the development of financing pathways for clean air and climate synergies. Duties and Responsibilities The intern will support the Pillar 1 team with the following tasks: • Assist in collecting and analyzing publicly available information and data related to air quality and climate change in China. • Support the cost-effectiveness analysis of major mitigation options by using data analysis techniques, including applying AI and machine learning techniques to obtain and analyze data for identifying key bottlenecks and priority interventions. • Contribute to the mapping of clean air and climate priorities in selected provinces. • Assist in the preparation of presentations, briefs, and knowledge products based on the analytical work. • Support the team in organizing workshops and knowledge exchange events.
