IFC’s Eastern Africa team is seeking an intern as part of the World Bank Group (WBG) Pioneers Program, the WBG’s flagship internship program for undergraduate and postgraduate students. The program provides structured learning and hands-on experience through meaningful assignments that contribute to the WBG’s mission and operations. The selected candidate will support the IFC Country Office by contributing to business development and investment pipeline activities, implementation of advisory projects, country strategy initiatives, and day-to-day operational support, while gaining practical experience in private sector development and development finance. Duties and Accountabilities: The intern will undertake analytical, operational, and administrative assignments, including: 1. Business Development and Investment Pipeline Support • Supporting the identification and assessment of potential investment opportunities through market and sector research. • Assisting in developing and maintaining the country’s investment pipeline and client mapping. • Conducting company, sector, and financial analysis, including to review financial information and prepare analytical notes and presentations. 2. Advisory Project Implementation Support • Supporting the implementation and supervision of ongoing advisory projects. • Assisting in the preparation of project documents, including Concept Notes, Implementation Plans, Project Supervision Reports (PSRs), progress reports, and presentations. • Conducting research, data analysis, documentation, and taking meeting minutes, to support project teams. 3. Operational and Administrative Support • Supporting the implementation of the new Country Partnership Framework (CPF) and other country strategies. • Contributing to the preparation of client presentations, briefing materials, and strategy documents. • Providing operational and logistical support for visiting missions, meetings, and stakeholder engagement events. • Assisting in tracking deliverables, maintaining project documentation, and preparing routine reports. • Performing other analytical, operational, and administrative tasks as assigned by the Country Office.
