The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system, and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.
The Medium-Term Strategy of UNEP outlines the organization’s vision for addressing the triple planetary crisis of climate change, nature loss and pollution. UNEP India Country Office supports implementation of global and regional programmes in India by working with national and local governments, civil society, United Nations organizations, research institutions and the private sector.

As part of its programme implementation, awareness generation, outreach and capacity-building activities, UNEP India prepares communication and knowledge products for a range of stakeholders.

Technical information frequently needs to be presented in formats that are simple, visually engaging, easy to understand and suitable for both digital and print dissemination.

UNEP India Country Office is looking to engage a online UN Volunteer with strong graphic design and visual communication skills to support the design and presentation of brochures, pamphlets, flyers, presentations, infographics and other communication materials.

The assignment will primarily focus on the visual presentation of content provided or cleared by UNEP. The volunteer will not be expected to independently undertake technical policy research or interpretation as part of this assignment.

Under the guidance of the Assistant Programme Officer, UNEP India Country Office, the Online Volunteer will:
• Assist in designing brochures, pamphlets, flyers, posters, information sheets and other communication materials based on content provided by UNEP.
• Support the conversion of written and technical information into clear, simple and visually appealing formats.
• Assist in designing professional presentation decks for workshops, meetings, training programmes and stakeholder outreach.
• Support preparation of infographics, process diagrams, visual explainers, charts and other visual elements required for communication products.
• Prepare adaptable templates for frequently used products such as presentation slides, flyers, social media cards and information sheets.
• Assist in improving the layout, readability and visual consistency of existing UNEP communication materials.
• Support adaptation of communication products for different stakeholder groups and communication channels.
• Assist in preparing materials for both digital dissemination and print use.
• Incorporate comments and feedback provided by UNEP into revised design drafts.
• Support maintenance of a consistent visual approach across products prepared under the assignment.

All content will be provided by UNEP.

Expected Outputs / Deliverables
During the three-month assignment, the Online Volunteer is expected to contribute to a communication and digital design package comprising approximately:
• Up to 10–12 designed communication products, which may include brochures, pamphlets, flyers, posters, information sheets, visual explainers or similar products;
• Up to 5 presentation decks, normally comprising approximately 15–25 slides each, based on content provided by UNEP;
• Up to 4–5 reusable design templates for presentations, communication materials, social media cards or outreach products;
• Supporting infographics, diagrams, icons, charts and other visual elements required for the above products; and
• Editable working files and final versions of the products prepared under the assignment.

The exact mix and sequencing of products will be agreed with the supervisor based on programme requirements and the complexity of individual assignments.
The volunteer will support preparation and revision of these products under UNEP guidance. Final technical and institutional clearance will remain with UNEP.
