POSITION SUMMARY - This position is based in Arlington, VA 

The Human Resources Coordinator is an early-career opportunity to build broad experience across Human Resources Operations and Total Rewards while supporting employees throughout the employee lifecycle. Working as part of an integrated team, this role supports employee data management, benefits, compensation, payroll coordination, compliance, onboarding, and Human Resources systems and processes.

They will play an important role in keeping employee information accurate, supporting timely and consistent Human Resources processes, and helping deliver a positive experience for employees and managers. The position will also contribute to system testing, audits, reporting, process documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, curious, and eager to learn. Success in this role requires strong follow-through, a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality, and the ability to collaborate effectively while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, global organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Human Resources Operations & Systems

  • Coordinate employee transactions and maintain accurate and complete employee records.
  • Enter, update, and maintain employee information within Human Resources systems in accordance with established procedures.
  • Support onboarding and other employee lifecycle processes, partnering with managers and Human Resources colleagues to help provide a positive employee experience.
  • Assist with system testing, enhancements, issue tracking, and implementation activities, including Workday testing and post-launch support.
  • Maintain Human Resources procedures, workflows, job aids, and other process documentation.

Compliance & Data Integrity

  • Support routine data audits, reconciliations, and quality control activities to help maintain accurate employee, compensation, benefits, and organizational data.
  • Prepare and organize documentation and reports for internal and external audits and compliance reviews.
  • Assist with tracking audit findings, corrective actions, and related follow-up activities.
  • Maintain employee records and documentation in accordance with organizational retention, confidentiality, and compliance requirements.
  • Escalate compliance concerns or issues requiring additional review to the appropriate Human Resources team member.

Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in cross-functional Human Resources projects and organizational initiatives.
  • Support process mapping, documentation, and implementation of new programs, policies, systems, and processes.
  • Provide project coordination support, including tracking timelines, organizing documentation, supporting communications, and following up on action items.
  • Identify and share opportunities to improve processes, data quality, efficiency, and the employee and manager experience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This position follows a hybrid work structure, with regular in-office presence and remote work in accordance with CI guidance. Specific expectations will be discussed during the interview process.
  • Regular collaboration with colleagues across global time zones is required, which may occasionally require flexibility outside standard business hours.
  • Occasional domestic and/or international travel may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in Human Resources coordination, operations, benefits, compensation, payroll, Human Resources systems, or a related administrative role.
  • Basic understanding of Human Resources processes and employee lifecycle activities, with an interest in developing broader Human Resources operations knowledge.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, follow established procedures, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills with a customer-service mindset.
  • Ability to ask questions and seek guidance when priorities, processes, or next steps are unclear.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, handle sensitive information appropriately, and exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, learn from feedback, and build effective working relationships across Human Resources and business teams.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent education or relevant experience.
  • Experience using Human Resources systems, case management systems, databases, or other business systems; Workday experience is a plus.
  • Exposure to one or more areas of Human Resources operations, such as employee data management, benefits, compensation, payroll, compliance, or employee lifecycle processes.
  • Experience working in a global or cross-functional environment.

Compensation, Benefits & Culture:  Conservation International is committed to pay equity, transparency, and supporting employees across locations. Salary Range: $54,500-66,599 annually. This range represents Conservation International's good-faith estimate of the compensation for this position at the time of posting. Final compensation is based on geographic location, job-related skills, qualifications, and relevant experience. Benefits: Eligible employees receive a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance; a 403(b) retirement plan with a 6% employer match after 60 days; Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA); employer-paid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability coverage; paid vacation and sick leave; voluntary benefits including pet insurance; and organization-issued technology to support remote and hybrid work. Benefits are subject to plan terms, eligibility requirements, and may be modified from time to time.
