The YouthConnekt Africa Summit 2026 takes place in Kigali, Rwanda, from 25 to 27 November, with more than 5,000 participants expected in person and 25,000 online. Young Africans increasingly question whether youth summits change anything. This year's communication therefore focuses less on promoting the event and more on what is discussed, what is agreed, and how progress will be followed after the Summit.
Online volunteers will help YouthConnekt Africa explain the Summit's six thematic tracks and its outcomes in plain, engaging language for young people across Anglophone and Francophone Africa and the diaspora.
We are looking for six (6) Online Volunteers who, under the supervision of the Project Communication & External Relations at UNDP Rwanda and in coordination with the YouthConnekt Africa communications team, will create content for the Summit's social media channels. Each volunteer will be assigned one platform or one language stream (Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, and French-language content across platforms). Each volunteer will:
• Develop and follow a content calendar for their platform, aligned with the Summit's key messages and the overall campaign plan.
• Draft 3-5 posts per week, including short explainers on the six thematic tracks, speaker and session highlights, and calls to follow the Summit online.
• During the Summit (25-27 November), produce real-time content from livestreams and materials shared by the on-site team: key quotes, session summaries and short video captions.
• After the Summit, turn the confirmed outcomes into plain-language content ("what was agreed, what it means for you"), using only facts approved by the communications team.
• In January 2027, support follow-up content on progress made since the Summit.
• Monitor comments and questions, flag recurring themes or concerns to the team, and suggest responses.
• Submit weekly reports on reach, engagement, shares and notable audience feedback.
• Attend weekly virtual check-ins (Kigali time, UTC+2).
All content is reviewed by the communications team before publication. Volunteers must not present any commitment as made unless it has been formally confirmed.
Online volunteers will gain hands-on experience in advocacy communication at a continental policy event, work with UNDP and YouthConnekt Africa communications professionals, and receive a certificate of appreciation on successful completion.
