The Ministry of Youth and Gender Affairs seeks to engage 500 Online Volunteers to implement a coordinated digital outreach campaign before, during and immediately after the Africa Volunteer Conference 2026.
Each Online Volunteer will be assigned an individual digital outreach package containing approved messages, visual materials, hashtags, posting guidance and an engagement-tracking template. Volunteers will adapt and disseminate the approved content through suitable digital platforms and networks.
The assignment will be completed entirely online. Online Volunteers will not be required to travel to Botswana, attend the conference physically or report to a physical duty station. Online Volunteering assignments must take place online, with the final deliverable submitted electronically.
Under the guidance of the conference communications and online engagement team, each Online Volunteer will:
Disseminate Content: Active sharing of officially approved conference materials, including templates, articles, graphics, and videos, across personal and professional social media platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp).
Adapt Messages: Tailor official messaging and templates to better resonate with local audiences and culturally specific contexts, ensuring the original message and core objectives are preserved.
Community Engagement: Interact professionally, constructively, and respectfully with the public in response to campaign content. Escalate complex or highly technical questions to the official conference coordination team.
Reporting and Tracking: Monitor engagement levels (likes, shares, comments) and keep a simple structured log of all promotional activities.
Feedback Collection: Highlight major online questions, trending topics, and audience reception to help the communication team optimize ongoing outreach efforts.
Key Deliverables:
By the conclusion of the 12 week assignment, each volunteer is required to successfully submit:
Outreach Verification: Evidence/links verifying the sharing of at least eight official conference campaign messages.
Message Adaptation: Examples of at least two captions or posts that were customized for local context or specialized target audiences.
Engagement Tracker: A completed engagement log template tracking post-performance and overall social outreach metrics.
Feedback Summary Report: A short, structured report outlining audience response, popular questions, and general community feedback.
Through this assignment, Online Volunteers will:
• Gain practical experience in digital outreach and online campaign engagement.
• Strengthen their communication, content-adaptation and digital reporting skills.
• Contribute to a continental initiative promoting volunteerism and youth participation.
• Build networks with volunteers and participating organizations.
• Receive feedback from the host entity on their contribution.
Upon successful completion of the assignment and positive feedback from the host entity through the Unified Volunteer Platform, Online Volunteers will receive a UNV Certificate of Appreciation. The certificate is generated following confirmation of the volunteer’s contribution and submission of feedback by the host entity. Where appropriate, the host entity will acknowledge the collective contribution of the Online Volunteers in campaign or conference communication products.
