Context

UNDP Mozambique is exploring investment activity across sectors and regions of Mozambique as part of its broader economic analysis work. This involves systematically identifying, documenting, and organizing investment-related information to support ongoing research and planning within the country programme.

The UN Volunteer will support this initiative by sourcing investment data from multiple stakeholders and validating accuracy through direct engagement.

Working Conditions:

Location: Remote

Team Structure: UN Volunteers will work under the supervision of the Senior Economist, Economist and Research and Data Analyst within UNDP Mozambique's Economic Advisory Team.

Communication: Regular meetings with the Economic Advisory Team to discuss progress, troubleshoot challenges, and receive guidance.

Support: Ongoing feedback and mentoring from the supervising team members.

Key Responsibilities:

- Source and aggregate investment data across sectors and geographic regions. Find investment information from government reports, company websites, news sources, and databases, then organize it by sector (agriculture, energy, manufacturing, tourism etc.) and province.

- Review data for accuracy and completeness. Check all collected information for errors, missing details, or conflicting figures. Flag discrepancies that need follow-up.

- Validate data through directly contracting stakeholders. Contact investment entities and government agencies via email, phone, or meetings to confirm information is correct and gather missing details.

- Maintain organized Excel datasets. Input verified information into well-structured spreadsheets with clear columns (Company Name, Sector, Investment Amount, Year, Province, Source, Status, etc). Ensure consistency in formatting and data entry.
