About this position

We are looking for a service-oriented, dynamic, and motivated professional to join our team as Operations Senior Analyst to perform technical and analytical activities to improve the quality of the Department's operational products. 

You will work in the Climate Change and Sustainable Development Department (CSD) as part of the CSD Front Office, you will collaborate closely with operations teams, contributing to the quality and effectiveness of the Department's loan project proposals and Technical Cooperations (TCs), enhancing the performance of its operations portfolio, and advancing CSD's operational agenda across its areas of work by facilitating coordination between CSD Divisions and Units. 

What you’ll do

  • Provide analytical, technical, and research support to sovereign-guaranteed and non-sovereign-guaranteed operations throughout key project review and approval stages.
  • Review project proposals to strengthen their design, evaluability, development effectiveness, institutional and financial analysis, risk management, and overall quality. 
  • Ensure operational products align with Bank policies, operational standards, departmental priorities, country needs, and relevant international practices. 
  • Conduct sector research, policy reviews, comparative analyses, and data-driven assessments to inform project preparation and implementation. 
  • Monitor pipeline and portfolio performance, identify implementation bottlenecks and emerging risks, and recommend actions to improve project delivery. 
  • Track the preparation, quality, and timely submission of project completion reports and help teams incorporate findings and lessons learned. 
  • Prepare dashboards, analytical reports, research briefs, briefing notes, presentations, and other materials to support management decision-making and strategic planning. 
  • Coordinate with CSD divisions and units to advance operational effectiveness, disseminate knowledge and good practices, and support departmental initiatives

What you'll need

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in economics, public policy, public administration, international relations, political science, law or related field, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role. 
  • Experience: One (1) year of relevant applied professional experience (preferably three [3] years), with a strong background in project design and/or management, evaluability, monitoring and evaluation. Experience supporting the project cycle, including project preparation, implementation, and reporting, as well as data analysis and dashboard development, is desirable. Experience in the LAC public sector and/or international development organizations is highly desirable. Experience at the IDB and knowledge of IDB policies, instruments, procedures, and systems are preferred.
  • Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable. 

Requirements

  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

Type of contract and duration

•    International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
