These guidelines also take into account each country's specific characteristics, the importance of regional integration, gender dimensions, and the environmental, social, and fiscal sustainability of its interventions, while emphasizing the importance of increasing public investment and private-sector participation in infrastructure financing. This contributes to expanding available knowledge on transportation and to the preparation and execution of transportation projects in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). Research topics are related to the Division's strategic activities.
