The UN Refugee Agency, UNHCR is a global organization dedicated to protecting people forced to flee their homes due to conflict and persecution. Operating in 122 countries, UNHCR provides life-saving assistance, safeguards fundamental human rights, and helps displaced individuals rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.
Since the full-scale invasion in Ukraine in February 2022, Bulgaria has played a vital role, receiving large numbers of forcibly displaced persons. Currently, over 70 000 refugees from Ukraine reside in the country.
Under its mandate, UNHCR leads and coordinates the Inter-Agency Refugee Response for the Ukraine Situation in Bulgaria, in alignment with the Regional Refugee Response Plan (RRP). This coordinated effort is carried out in close collaboration with the Bulgarian government and humanitarian partners.
In the same time Bulgaria, plays a key role as EU external border, as people arrive from conflict and persecution predominantly from the Middle East region.
Challenges such as limited integration prospects and socio-economic barriers continue to affect long-term inclusion and refugees’ self-reliance.
UNHCR supports the Bulgarian government in aligning national policies and legislation with international and EU standards, promoting a comprehensive, multi-stakeholder, whole-of-society approach to refugee response.

UNHCR Bulgaria is seeking one Online Volunteer to create two short, animated explainer videos that presents key information about the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum, with a particular focus on the rights of asylum-seekers and refugees during the asylum procedure, as well as videos addressing the needs of people with temporary protection.
The purpose of the videos is to help explain legal and procedural information in a clear, engaging, and accessible way for people seeking international protection.
UNHCR Bulgaria will provide the script, legal content, key messages, branding guidance, and any relevant visual materials. The volunteer will be responsible for translating this information into an engaging animation that is easy to understand for a broad audience.

The selected Online Volunteer will:
• Develop a storyboard or visual concept based on content provided by UNHCR Bulgaria for the two separate videos.
• Produce two separate videos, a 2D animated explainer video or motion graphics video (approximately 2–4 minutes).
• Create clear and accessible visualizations of legal and procedural information as per the provided script, information and guidance by UNHCR.
• Incorporate feedback from the UNHCR Bulgaria team throughout the production process.
• Deliver two final videos in high-quality and web-compatible formats. Where possible, editable project files should also be provided.[RB1.1][RB2.1] The videos should be produced in English. If the volunteers producing the videos are Bulgarian speaking, the videos should also be provided in Bulgarian, where feasible, so that the relevant content is available in both English and Bulgarian.
