POSITION SUMMARY - This position is based in Bogotá-Colombia

The purpose of this role is to provide operational and analytical support for the financial and accounting management of Conservation International Colombia, ensuring efficient control of operations. This role ensures the generation of reliable accounting data for the preparation of financial reports and decision-making, while ensuring transparency, the accuracy of transactions, and strict compliance with legal and donor regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Management:

  • Prepare, compile, and submit monthly, quarterly, and/or annual financial reports to the parent company and/or donors.
  • Review the organization’s accounting records.
  • Verify project funds and ensure their proper use in accordance with agreements.
  • Support internal and external audits (if required by donors or by law).
  • Monitor institutional budgets by project and expense category.
  • Submit documentation required by donors.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards (IFRS for SMEs) and local regulations, as well as the organization’s policies.

Accounting Management:

  • Record accounting transactions and issue invoices with the applicable taxes, verifying that the documentation complies with legal and donor requirements.
  • Verify that consultants’ social security contributions comply with the percentage established by law and adjust their tax withholding base.
  • Create and record documents in ALEGRA, ensuring they adequately support accounting transactions.
  • Assist with bank reconciliations

Preparation of Monthly Reports:

  • Update and consolidate account data for internal and external reports.
  • Expense Approval Management:
  • Review and process expense approval requests on various platforms.
  • Record transactions in the Business World system and ensure proper documentation.

Portfolio Management:

  • Ensure effective control of the portfolio by monitoring accounts receivable, managing outstanding collections, and ensuring compliance with internal policies to maintain optimal liquidity and minimize financial risks.
  • Other responsibilities assigned by the immediate supervisor, related to the nature and purpose of the position, that contribute to the achievement of the department’s and the organization’s objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Up to 2 years of general experience.
  • Up to 2 years of experience in accounting and financial management.
  • At least 1 year of experience using accounting software and handling tax compliance.
  • Financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Analysis of financial statements.
  • Colombian accounting and tax regulations, including withholding taxes, ReteICA, and parafiscal contributions.
  • Recording and validating expenses in accounting and management platforms.
  • Management of accounts payable and accounts receivable in organizational settings.
  • Preparation of bank reconciliations.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel, BI tools (Power BI), and accounting software.

Preferred

  • Technical degree and/or associate’s degree in Accounting and Finance or related fields.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel: Ability to work with pivot tables, formulas, and templates.
  • Accounting platform management: Proficiency with systems such as Business World for recording and consolidating transactions.
  • Tax knowledge: Application of regulations related to withholding taxes, ReteICA, and electronic filing.
  • Generation of supporting documents: Use of tools such as Allegra to comply with DIAN requirements.
  • Attention to detail: Thoroughness in reviewing financial documents to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Organizational skills: Efficient management of multiple tasks and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Effective communication: Ability to interact with different departments and present clear and accurate accounting information.
  • Problem-solving: Proactive approach to identifying and resolving discrepancies in financial records.
