UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.

Through UN Women’s unique triple mandate of normative support, UN coordination on gender equality and operational activities, the UN Women China Office located in Beijing works on three thematic areas: (i) women's economic empowerment (WEE); (ii) high-quality services and social protection; and (iii) global partnerships and sustainable financing for gender equality and women’s empowerment. In addition to the above, UN Women also actively participates and contributes to various UN inter-agency processes and collaborates with UN organizations around specific programme areas.

The online volunteer will support the Partnerships team and is expected to deliver on a timely, quality and results-oriented approach to support the office’s overall efforts vis-à-vis its private sector engagement plans, WEPs engagement efforts and the 2026 WEPs award ceremony in China.

In 2026, UN Women Asia Pacific launched the Women Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Awards. A competitive process to award the private sector on leading practices in advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment, UN Women China is also launching a national process.

The Online Volunteer will support the office’s overall efforts in conducting research, analysis and logistical support in support of private sector engagement efforts – particularly around private sector partnerships, WEPs signatories and the WEPs Awards.

Key types of tasks will include:
· Conducting research and analysing private sector organizations – including WEPs signatories;
· Providing coordination, logistical and administrative support to the 2026 WEPs Awards and WEPs ceremony; and
· Coordinating with external stakeholders on private sector engagement and partnership efforts (e.g., exhibitions, panels, etc.).

While the Online Volunteer will work remotely, the volunteer is expected to be online for 16-20 hours per week during regular business hours and able to commit to 10-12 weeks for this role.

The Online Volunteer will communicate and exchange information with the team over e-mail, Teams and other channels.

The Online Volunteer will also be expected to provide support and/or participate in virtual team meetings and report to the Public and Private Sector Partnership Specialist.
